I use AlphaSense to surface insights on companies and markets for my customers.
  • Search
  • Quick analysis
  • Competitor monitoring
  • Price is high
It is excellent for both qualitative and quantitative information on public companies. We especially love how easy it is to search and find relevant information. And the new AI summarization feature is a huge time saver. It is less well-suited for information on private companies.

I use AlphaSense as an integral part of my equity research process. This includes sourcing new ideas via screens and keyword alerts, researching ideas via reading SEC documents and expert insight calls, and maintaining research on existing ideas via the dashboard's alerts and organization of my notes on each situation and security.
  • AlphaSense has a unique database of expert network calls
  • AlphaSense allows a full text search across SEC and non-SEC documents
  • AlphaSense allows you to use it as a central repository for notes on names
  • AlphaSense isn't a full replacement for CapitalIQ or Bloomberg. It lacks all the fundamental data of those sources (i.e. historical revenue, earnings, cash flow)
  • AlphaSense can be a bit overwhelming because there is so much depth to the product. It requires some training to master
  • Sometimes the website can be a little slow to load when searching for things.
AlphaSense is well suited for analysts looking for expert call insights on a broad swath of names. AlphaSense is a good replacement for Tegus and other similar expert call libraries because it has more to offer than just call transcripts. AlphaSense is a great place to centralize a body of work and build keyword alerts on specific topics or companies.

To understand market trends using Wall Street insights. Also, I use it to keep track of my competitors, customers, and key topics of interest.
  • Search results on keywords.
  • Dashboards
  • Alerts on key topics.
  • User Interface.
  • Speed of usage of website. It gets slow at times.
  • Bugs
Alphasense is best for business development or marketing people who are looking to keep up with trends.

I use AlphaSense to keep a tab on the happenings in the market, especially M&A-related news, the impact of new regulations on the industry and competitors, general updates from earnings calls and conferences, and much more. AlphaSense helps me expand my worldview through research from other analysts and organizations.
  • Clean Interface
  • Deep Repository
  • Instant Support
  • Contsant Addition of Features
  • More customization as per end user needs.
  • Company specific pages.
  • Better segmentation i.e. annual industry coverage reports spanning 100+ pages should be accessible separately
AlphaSense works great when one's needs are limited to publicly listed companies or mainstream news. It would be good if they also found a way to segregate and organize the information around industries and private companies. General industry-level reports are a little difficult to find. But other than that it works like an absolute charm.

Our organization uses AlphaSense both to keep track of our existing portfolio of private companies and conduct diligence on new potential investments. We generally rely on the platform's search function (i.e., research and company docs) to keep us apprised of recent events. When conducting diligence, we use AlphaSense to gain a better understanding of the companies we are targeting, the industries they are in, key competitors, etc. We have also begun recently leveraging Stream both for transcripts and conducting expert calls ourselves. AlphaSense presents a tool for us to quickly get up to speed on a new area.
  • AlphaSense's search function is, on the whole, effective. For example, if you are looking at a public company, you can access a wide range of equity research analyst reports in a matter of seconds.
  • I have been impressed with AlphaSense's Stream function to date, particularly the library of expert transcripts. This library provides a differentiated, streamlined way of hearing directly from people who know the ins and outs of a given business or industry.
  • AlphaSense is strong when it comes to innovating on their product and user experience. For example, they have been at the forefront when it comes to rolling out solutions around generative AI through the launch of Smart Summaries. This DNA of innovation is appreciated from a user standpoint.
  • Acknowledging that Stream is a relatively new product, I have found that there is room for improvement in terms of the quality of individuals sourced for expert calls, especially compared to some of the legacy expert call providers. The depth of Stream's expert call database is still being expanded.
  • At times, the AlphaSense can be overwhelming with regards to the sheer number of features available. For example, the main landing page for the Search function is filled with different drop-downs, filters, tags, etc. As someone who uses AlphaSense, but only on a sporadic / case-by-case (as opposed to daily) basis, it can be difficult to navigate this interface, so I often find myself sticking with one or two basic functions instead of fully delving into new features.
  • While some searches on AlphaSense yield very useful results, others are much more limited. This is simply a function of the keywords involved, but it does at times hinder my ability to conduct research on certain topics.
AlphaSense is extremely well-suited for individuals who are in an equity research role, or are otherwise tasked with delving deeply into public companies. There is a incredible depth of information on the platform that is, importantly, made readily accessible for the end user. On the flip side, for individuals who focus primarily on private companies, AlphaSense's usefulness is somewhat more limited, as there is not as much public information on these businesses for AlphaSense to source.

My role is focused on identifying new investment opportunities for our clients. Part of my research process to identify new companies to review is to perform word searches that would imply the presence of certain characteristics at a company that I feel is a good predictor of potential pitfalls at a given company. During the initial screening process, I use AlphaSense to efficiently review filings of various companies that have these characteristics. The process is made more efficient by the various filtering variables (i.e., market cap, country, industry, filing types reviewed, etc.) that are available. Lastly, the layout is helpful, as it is clear where in the filings the searched for 'word' or 'phrase' occurred. Therefore, AlphaSense helps me to efficiently review multiple company filings, as part of my initial steps at identifying new investment opportunities that I can publish research on.
  • The layout of the central interface is very clear, as the user is able to see how many companies appear in a given word search, where in the filings the term/phrase occurred and the context of the term/phrase in the document.
  • The filters make it an efficient review, as I can exclude companies that are not relevant to my search. For example, I only look at companies in Europe and USA that trade >$20m ADV, so I can exclude companies that are not in my universe by filtering out those companies. Ultimately, this saves me time by not looking at companies I cannot look at as a potential investment opportunity.
  • The automated alerts are also helpful, as these help summarize new occurrences of my word search that are relevant. On a weekly basis, I get a summary of a word search term that is of interest to me. This helps summarize all of the relevant occurrences from new filings, which is easy to review. By being in an e-mail, I can review them on my phone on the way home from work.
  • The product could be improved by expanding the ability to screen for insider buying/selling. It would be helpful to be able to get a summary of insider transactions for a given company on a weekly basis just to identify any material changes.
  • It would be helpful for the product to provider blacklines for international (non-USA) companies. I find the USA blackline reports especially helpful, as I can quickly see what wording has changed from the previous filing. However, the blacklines appear to not be available for European companies.
  • Lastly, peer and larger customer information would be helpful to have on a concise screen. Some filings mention material (>10% of sales) customers. Therefore, it would be helpful to have a pre-arranged option to see the material customers for a given company. As this would be based on a word search, I think the preset option (i.e., material customers) would be possible to add as a feature to Alphasense.
In my experience, AlphaSense is well-suited for efficient word searches. As mentioned, a large portion of my job is locating companies that are exposed to a specific item in order to generate an investment idea. For example, if there is a large project that I feel could impact a company's results, I can do a quick word search for that project and very quickly see which companies have talked about that project in the past. Based on my past use of AlphaSense, I feel the product is well-suited for this.

AlphaSense seems to be less useful for insider transactions, as there is not a good way to concisely see how insider trading is happening at a given company. I can see specific sales/purchases, but it is hard to identify the overall (higher-level) trend.

AlphaSense makes information search and discovery easy. We consistently use it to help track our industry coverage and find key information to inform analytics and decision-making. The product functionality makes data aggregation and sharing simple and efficient.
  • Searches for details across thousands of pages of text
  • Allows aggregation and exporting of financial data within multiple filings
  • Tracks updates across news, research, filings, etc.
  • comparisons of language in subsequent SEC filings.
AlphaSense is vastly superior to tools offered by CapIQ or Factset when searching for specific content across multiple sources such as press releases, filings, transcripts, etc. The product continues to improve over time with the goal of driving user efficiency. Our entire analyst team gets a ton of value from the product.

AlphaSense helps us to find company transcripts, analyst reports and key pieces of information relating to company activities. It is an essential database for the purposes of conducting competitive intelligence in the pharmaceutical space.
  • Transcripts delivered very quickly and accurately
  • Analyst reports on key events with insights and commentary
  • Quick PRs released on company events
  • More integration of summary tools for long articles or transcript
I think for CI purposes its great, honestly it's the first and last database I'd use for nearly any scenario. It is a bit weaker on structured financial data, especially historically speaking compare to say a pricing database but I know thats not its main purpose.

Helps monitor competitor performance at a regular cadence. The positive and negative sentiments and the AI recognition are very accurate. Saves a lot of my time when looking for specific product-related information. In my role, I monitor competitive intelligence, and being able to peruse through multiple documents at once helps save time. I also subscribe to the stream voice of customer surveys, which is a great addition to the existing brokerage reports and market reports that are available via the tool.
  • Competitive intelligence.
  • Transcript recognition and AI recognition and sentiments.
  • Voice of customer reports.
  • Not enough coverage on certain brokerage reports like Nephron research.
  • Tagging internal employees to call for attention amidst colleagues.
  • Emailing documents and important information into the system.

Business problems and scope:
  • Market intelligence: what are our competitors doing?
  • Investor relations: how are we performing relative to peer companies and segments?

We use AlphaSense to:
  • Track our competitors
  • Easily comb through publicly traded companies' earnings calls and investor presentations for topics, trends, and sentiment
  • Benchmark our company's performance to our peers
  • Find small bits of information about competitors, customers, and prospects, including their appearance in the news and in analyst briefs
  • Detect trends and big-picture market problems by industry
  • Serving as a one-stop-shop for financial filings, earnings calls, investor presentations, etc.
  • Auto-summarization of earnings calls
  • Fuzzy matching on search terms (e.g., searching on "R&D" captures all sorts of items related to product development and innovation)
  • Apples-to-apples comparisons between publicly traded companies' metrics
  • Email alert digests (e.g., weekly round-up of M&A activity in our segment)
  • Private company data
  • Collaboration with colleagues who don't have an AlphaSense seat
  • Auto-identifying (and then editing) the peer set of companies that any given company is benchmarked against
Well suited:
  • For small, internal teams tracking their own company, their competitors and peers, and the market as a whole
  • Researching and tracking publicly traded companies
  • Covering trends across entire industries

Less appropriate:
  • For collaborating with or pushing materials to large groups of colleagues (i.e., colleagues without licenses)
  • Hosting and distributing your own, internally written competitive enablement content (e.g., sales battlecards)
  • Covering small, private companies

I don't want to go into detail on how we use AlphaSense at Hussmann because of the competitive nature of our industry. But we use all of the features that AlphaSense currently has made available and we have no complaints whatsoever. AlphaSense is more than a platform, it's become a partnership and we value our relationship with AlphaSense tremendously.
  • Find intelligence
  • Provide a very wide net of accessible information
  • Sensitivity analytics around topics we focus on
  • Working with us as a partner not a meal ticket
  • Targeted emails with information that I care about
  • Better information on private companies
I have used intelligence platforms like AlphaSense's for many years and as a new kid on the block, they have started from a foundation of what works and has made the entire process practically effortless. We have set up pertinent dashboards and watchlists and have a very well defined stream of intelligence coming in through AlphaSense's platform. The text analytics embedded in the platform is fantastic as is the ability to grab financial data for multiple companies and multiple years or quarters. Suffice it to say, AlphaSense's in-platform analytical features are very useful and a welcome addition to this type of service.

We are very happy with not only the platform's access to information and it's ability to help us analyze it, but we work closely with the AlphaSense team throughout the year and they are a pleasure to work with. Definitely the kind of partner that Hussmann Corp. values.

AS helps us better than Bloomberg. The document search finder plus the expert call network has been very valuable for us deepening our research and finding good investment ideas. Keyword searches sound simple, but can be very tough to actually do successfully with precision. AS has features that help us here.
  • Expert call networks are additive
  • Hot/cold visual features are helpful
  • Customer engagement is fast and reliable
  • Cost can be a barrier for many teams at our firm
  • More transparency on expert call bios, backgrounds, etc
  • Clinical data for healthcare — scan documents and highlight what matters, allow us to not have to sift through
AS has saved us countless time. My boss, our portfolio manager was initially resistant but saw how he could look through hundreds of sell side reports, cut to what mattered and get up to speed on a topic way faster than email. It is like a bulletin board for investment ideas. We’ve also used AS to help our interns learn and contribute to our team quicker.

I use it to learn about new markets and technologies, particularly by viewing corporate documents and equity research reports. I use this as a starting point in my comprehensive research process, which I find particularly helpful for. I especially like the advanced Artificial intelligence based search methods and analytical capabilities embedded directly within the user interface.
  • Finding equity research reports
  • Finding company documents no longer on their website
  • finding names of competing companies
  • The page counter system always makes me feel like I have to use the site strategically and in a low-resource manner, I would prefer unlimited access
  • The search often pulls up irrelevant items
  • the analytical capabilities are advanced, but I think there's room for improvement
I think anyone responsible for researching and evaluating new technologies, products, mechanisms of action, or new biology, would be greatly benefited by having all of the corporate world's information at their fingertips. This would be useful for analysts, managers, and directors primarily, although more senior individuals certainly benefit from having people on their team having access to AlphaSense.

I use Alphasense in my everyday workflow. It's my "go to" solution for research on competitors, customers, and suppliers. I find it to the be single best source of truth for all published information that touches on the financial aspects of a business that I analyze. I particularly like the powerful search functions, ability to save searches, and ability to hone in on specifically what I'm looking for (i.e. keywords or phrases). Being able to do this across both published documents, filings, presentations, and research is incredibly powerful.
  • Search
  • Filtering
  • Dashboards (NEW!)
  • Push Emails
  • Topic Monitoring
  • Keyword monitoring
  • Ability to download comps sheets
  • Ability to connect excel directly to alphasense for updates
  • Historical valuation charts/analysis
Alphasense is a game changer when it comes to Investor Relations. It's is also a very valuable tool for corporate development (M&A) and accounting (around researching footnotes and comparable company disclosure). In terms of IR, Alphasense has really become a one-stop shop for my team, mostly displacing Blomberg and FactSet. We have reduced seats on both of the former as a result of Alphasense's continued growth and improvement.

We use AlphaSense to understand multiple perspectives on the outlook of the segments in which we operate. Between the analyst reports and the transcripts, we are able to get a great view of our markets. I particularly use the "nested" search capabilities to dig into specific areas of interest.
  • Transcripts
  • Analyst reports
  • Sentiment analysis
  • Search capabilities
  • Financial detail is lacking
AlphaSense is the best tool for strategists who need to understand markets, customers, and competitors. In my opinion, it is not the best product for deep financial analysis, as there are better tools for financial analysis. However, there is no better tool (that I've found) for strategic research.

At my organization, AlphaSense is our go-to for all research and news. Market research is made very easy with AlphaSense. For example, our company was looking into clinical development opportunities in a new disease area and needed to see what analysts/banks were saying about it. With AlphaSense, this was very easy - all we had to do was run a search with the disease area, and several relevant results from the most reputable banks/analysts were available. Additionally, in biotech, new approvals and data readouts happen nearly every day - it can be difficult to keep track of it all. With AlphaSense, we can do a quick scan of all the announcements/news related to our relevant company sets and have a report ready almost immediately.
  • Organizes relevant news, company documents, and analysis clearly.
  • Allows for easy searches with key words highlighted throughout their documents.
  • Provides access to analyst reports from nearly all of the top banks.
  • Allows for relevant alerts to be sent to my email (easy to set this up).
  • It would be very helpful if AlphaSense collected / organized financial data (revenue projections, models) from analyst reports.
AlphaSense is well-suited for most business research applications. Some scenarios where AlphaSense is useful are in market research (including analyst reporting), industry news, and competitive intelligence. These are areas/tasks that typically take a lot of time out of my day but are made quick and easy with AlphaSense. I can confidently say that the time it takes to conduct my research/work has been cut down by more than 75%, purely based on how organized AlphaSense is. AlphaSense is less appropriate for more detailed analytical and financial work, largely due to the lack of financial, sales, and deals data on the platform - this data can be found on AlphaSense, but the platform is not optimized for this type of work.

AlphaSense helps me keep up to date on the latest industry news published from important primary and secondary sources. AlphaSense works as expected, and alerts will get delivered on time. I like how quickly they deliver the latest news and company call transcripts.Analyst sentiments, keyword highlighter, and alert options with multiple time zones are the best options.
  • Multiple keywords highlighting.
  • Broker report coverage.
  • Filtering out duplicates.
  • Timely tracking of wide variety of sources.
  • User interface.
  • Share saved searches and alerts with other persons who has Alphasense access.
  • Some reports are hard to read, maximizing window option is not working (e.g., Citi Research reports).
  • In a few reports, the view screen will show all the report pages in the visible space, and it is hard to locate the pages with the required keywords.
  • Able to create communities/spaces - which eases the sharing of important articles within AlphaSense.
  • Some transcripts are having spelling issues.
  • Inclusion of non-English sources (e.g.: China, Japan, Korea, German, Italian, etc.)
AlphaSense is suitable for companies that are into market research, business intelligence/analytics, secondary research, pharma consulting, etc.

We use AlphaSense to ensure thorough visibility of secondary research materials related to companies and topics of interest. Our two key problems were 1)insufficient time to properly aggregate the high volume of secondary materials (investor materials, press releases, published articles) in a timely fashion and 2)broad access to equity analyst notes.
  • Relevance filtering of search results
  • Access to equity analyst research notes
  • Pursuit of new value added capabilities
  • Highlighting of keyword searching
  • Easy downloading of materials
  • Increase ability to share materials with users who do not hold Alpha-Sense seats
  • Increased pricing model flexibility for smaller organizations
  • Ability to quickly select pages of research documents (requiring credits) for download without have to access each page first
AlphaSense is well suited to rapidly increasing knowledge about public companies or broad topics of interest. It centralizes and speeds access to investor releases and secondary articles. The ability to create dashboards around topic interest or companies is helpful and the ability to set curated alert emails are helpful. As you might expect, information about private companies is more limited and therefore AlphaSense thus far delivers less value in this area. We have not used the built-in collaboration tools though there is value for an organization with multiple seats.

We use AlphaSense for most of our thematic projects, which has helped us cut down research & insights turnaround time by more than 70% across projects. Apart from this, we also use the tool for preparing analysis post earnings announcements - since these need to be prepared within a few days of the release, AlphaSense helps us in gathering insights more efficiently and effectively.
  • Helped me gather insurer response to IFRS17 in a comprehensive way, cutting down on preparation time
  • Helped me prepare earnings call summaries, by identifying key themes and highlights
  • Helped me export financials directly to excels, cutting down on manual work
  • Could be more sector-specific e.g. in house developed insurance sector-specific research & insights
  • Could have data/ reports from third-party sources such as S&P, Moody's, Fitch
  • Could add CrunchBase or CB Insights data to give a tech-focused dimension to the platform
AlphaSense would be best suited for thematic research on specific topics (e.g. blockchain or artificial intelligence or machine learning), earnings summaries and analysis, and strategic insights where we can search for specific initiatives (e.g. digital) It is less suited for niche data-specific analysis (e.g. market share for Allianz in different markets where it is operating).

AlphaSense is my platform of choice for self-learning. I use AlphaSense to access equity research, earnings transcripts, and market research to stay up to date on the Financial Services industry and understand competitive dynamics. By setting alerts and searching analyst reports, I gain 1.) domain expertise and greater context for technology use cases 2.) inspiration for insights that I can present internally and externally 3.) points of view I can't access anywhere else.
  • Search function & analytics
  • Breadth of equity research
  • Customer service
  • Ease of use
  • Audio + text synced
  • Daily update alerts
  • Would be great to get recommendations on content I haven't viewed but would be interesting to me
  • Mobile app is good but could be improved
  • Could see more visualization of sentiment / search analytics
  • Some reports don't render well in "preview mode"
AlphaSense is a fantastic resource for anyone who is curious about an industry. I think about it as an educational tool. You can read points of view on an industry as events happen and compare how companies are competing. I talk about AlphaSense in terms of building intellectual habits -- a little bit of reading every day makes you exponentially smarter over the long run.

Peer Analytics is an area where AlphaSense thrives.....being able to do detailed Disclosure Comparisons, perform industry Benchmarking as well as research comparative MD&A sections allows for market intelligence we did not previously have. Additionally, being able to see how others are talking about their business in prepared remarks helps us better gauge market sentiment.
